ABSTRACT

One thing we have learned is that we do not always see the problems and opportunities that are in our midst. Remember when I talked about my sensei (teacher) telling the story about sitting in the circle and seeing nothing to fix? When he reported back to his sensei, the sensei told him, “No problem is a big problem,” which means we have a much bigger problem because your mind is blocking out what needs to be seen. I have been in manufacturing all my life and thought I could see problems where they existed…that was, until I sat down in the circle and observed the people on the production floor and even in the office at work.
