ABSTRACT

Judges’ and magistrates’ roles within the criminal justice system and in the greater area of public service are very visible positions with the ability to enact change and greatly impact individuals and society as a whole. It is for this reason that a strong ethical foundation is of paramount concern. For a judge or magistrate to be e‹ective within his or her position, it is necessary

for them to be trusted and for their integrity to be without question. If their integrity is questioned or tarnished in any manner, so, too, will their rulings and interpretations of law be called into question.
