What Is a Cross-Functional Process Map or Swimlane Diagram? A cross-functional process map (CFPM) illustrates workflow in organizations (Figure 5.1). A workflow consists of a set and series of interrelated work activities that follow a distinct path as work inputs (resources) get transformed into outputs (items) that customers value. ‡e name, cross-functional process map, means the whole work process “crosses” several functions.
