ABSTRACT

The Leadership category asks how senior leaders’ personal actions guide and sustain your organization. It also asks about your organization’s governance system; how your organization fulfills its legal, ethical, and societal responsibilities; and how it supports its key communities. (p. 7)

The Leadership Category is broken down into the following two Examination Items:

1.1 Senior Leadership (70 points)

1.2 Governance and Social Responsibilities (50 points)

As stated in the excerpt above, this category relates to the activities of the organization’s senior executives as well as the management system as a whole. The term “senior executives” refers to the highest ranking official of the organization and the executives that report directly to the CEO or president. This would seem very clear, but applicants have been known to report on only the activities of their most senior executive, the CEO, with no information being provided on the activities of any of the other executives in the organization.
