ABSTRACT
Chemical hazards may be divided into two broad categories, that is, those from “dedicated” chemical weapons agents and those from toxic industrial chemicals. Both have the capacity to cause serious damage to biota, and both occur in enormous quantities worldwide. The two categories also differ in many ways; for example, toxic industrial chemicals tend to be commercially available, whereas chemical weapons are kept under heavy guard and are considered “hardened targets.”
