ABSTRACT

Change Leaders, we know, have created a vision. They also have determined a way of measuring when the vision is achieved. This is an outcome measure relevant to the outcome desired from the change. Dr. W. Edwards Deming found that to achieve certain outcomes, especially those that occur infrequently or far in the future, it is useful and often necessary to measure the inputs. These inputs are the ones that need to change to achieve the outcome desired. Examples in healthcare are numerous.
