ABSTRACT

There are several different disciplines of forensic science that can be used to analyze evidence. They are:

When handling evidence it is important to limit contamination. Contamination is the accidental transfer of biological or chemical components into an area. Cross contamination is directly associated with Locard’s exchange theory. The theory states that when two objects come in contact with each other, trace elements of each of the items are transferred one to the other. It is important to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and booties to prevent this from occurring.
