ABSTRACT

Many physiological phenomena correlate to body surface area (BSA) and for this reason some drug doses are calculated using body surface area. Cancer chemotherapy is usually dosed using BSA. BSA has been chosen

rather than body weight to calculate chemotheraphy doses for two reasons:

• It provides a more accurate estimation of effect and toxicity. • It more closely correlates to blood flow to the liver and kidneys, which are the major organs for drug elimination.
