2 OUTLINE OF THE WRITTEN PAPER The ISQs were introduced in the MRCPsych I in Autumn 2001 and the EMIs were added in Spring 2003. The breakdown of ISQs in the papers in the book (as suggested by the Royal College of Psychiatrists) is a rough guide, intended to give candidates an idea of the areas of the curriculum that are covered by the examination. Questions on other areas of the curriculum may be included. The exact number of questions from each area is also a rough guide. There is no official breakdown that covers the EMI component of the paper.
