ABSTRACT
In an ideal world, after cleanup and setup are completed, it should be possible to restart the process and have it run immediately at full efficiency. This is the vertical startup that was discussed in Chapter 1. This startup time may be even greater than the time spent on cleanup and setup combined. In a few extreme cases, the production run may finish before the process is completely settled down, running at normal speed and efficiency.
