ABSTRACT

This chapter explains advantages of a compact digital camera or a digital singlelens reflex camera. Underwater crime scene photographers have their own equipment. Dryland equipment may be converted to underwater use, but most teams find the money to purchase the best equipment they can afford and dedicate that equipment to underwater photography. A reasonable alternative to the compact digital camera is the digital single-lens reflex camera in a watertight housing. Most underwater photographers who use a variety of lenses use two external strobes. They last a long time and are a sound purchase. There are people who take pictures, some who take pictures for a living, fewer who photograph crime scenes, and even fewer who photograph underwater crime scenes. The most common method of dealing with color loss and darkness underwater is the use of lights.
