There are many tools of the trade for utilization within your supply chain security program. GPS is a well-known system with both commercial and private uses. It sends out a signal that is received by satellite and is bounced back to the device. It tracks location and movement. Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) is a popular standard for mobile phones, used vastly across the world. RFID is an excellent technology for the tracking of material goods and products through the supply chain, offering clear segmentation of the chain at all handoffs from introduction at origin to delivery to the end user. Seals afford two main purposes. The first is to indicate if there has been any entry into a container. The other is to keep honest people honest. X-ray technology is an adapted methodology that will inspect the interior of parcels, packages, containers, etc. A complex algorithm screens these images of suspected prohibited materials.
