ABSTRACT

In the early 2000s digital household electronic products such as liquidcrystal display (LCD) TV, mobile phones, and DVD players/recorders contributed to the recovery of the Japanese economy. In a similar way, the semiconductor and mobile phone industry have aided in the expansion of the Korean economy (Shintaku et al., 2006b). Particularly, Korean LCD panel makers have functioned as a critical link for bringing multiplier growth e†ects on the downstream LCD manufacturers (LG Economic

Research Institute, 2006a). With the recent introduction of digital broadcasting and broadband Internet, customers increasingly expect diverse and high-density video presentations. Main display players are switching from traditional brown tube to ®at-panel display (FPD) (Park, 2009).
