ABSTRACT

Russia had dominated the world politics and economies aer World War II as the only viable rival against the United States. However, with the slow growth of the manufacturing sector, the overall economic strengths needed real changes. Even so, it is noteworthy of the emergence of the key resource-based rms. Several examples of key Russian rms are (1) AutoVaz (number one automaker in Russia) and (2) Gazprom (yields 20% of global natural gas production). is chapter focuses on the relative

weaknesses of Russian manufacturing industries along with resourcebased rms in the context of hybrid economic systems with both government-initiated planned industry policies as well as free market principles.
