ABSTRACT
Law enforcement in the United States is composed of thousands of agencies that perform their duties daily with integrity and dedication. Challenging and exciting as a career field, law enforcement serves the citizens in our nation as one of a series of first responders entrusted to serve, in the words of Chief William Parker of the Los Angeles Police Department, as that “thin blue line”: a barrier protecting our citizens from those that would exploit them.
