ABSTRACT
All elements of ISO 9001 are included in the management portion of the standard ISO/IEC 17025(2005). A big part of a quality system can be stated as, “Say what you do, and do what you say.”
However, there is a big dierence between ISO 9001 certification and ISO/ IEC 17025 accreditation, the latter requiring the laboratory’s technical and scientic competence be assessed by a team of qualied scientists. Qualications and capabilities of personnel, scientic validity of test and calibration procedures, and prociency testing are examples of what is assessed in terms of compliance with the standard and the laboratory’s own procedures.
