ABSTRACT
Criminal law is jurisprudence concerning crimes and their concomitant punishments. Therefore, criminal law creates both the crime and the criminal. A society promulgates laws (civil and criminal) through its legislature, and these laws create crimes. A person who violates a prohibited act gets convicted in a court of law and punished, thereby becoming a criminal.
