ABSTRACT

This book has presented the dynamics in the criminal justice systems and criminal justice agencies of 14 countries located in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North and South America, the role of Interpol and Europol in global policing, and the impact of the United Nations in global criminal justice. We have seen the similarities and dissimilarities in the policing, judicial, and correctional philosophies, structures, and approaches of various nations. Also, we have seen some of the factors mentioned in Chapter 1 that cause the similarities and dissimilarities: nations’ historical experiences such as civil war, ethnic or racial con«icts, economic structure, political organization, religious beliefs, and custom and tradition. Now let us look at these similarities and dissimilarities between and among nations in depth.
