ABSTRACT

In the past 15 years, police work in Sweden has been changed from only reactive police work toward a more proactive approach. The proactive police work has been an important trend in modern police management. In the mid-1990s, the Swedish police introduced problem-oriented policing, and currently the Swedish police are working with the implementation of an intelligence-led policing. Both of these proactive approaches rest upon an idea that police work should be based upon decisions that are derived from various forms of structured analyses of information.
