ABSTRACT

As part of an overarching Swedish project entitled “Texts with importanceWriting in education and professional practice,” researchers at Linnaeus University are studying writing in the exercise of authority as it is performed in education and occupational life in three professions: police, teachers, and social workers. The term “exercise of authority” (in Swedish myndighetsutövning) means that decisions or measures are taken which express the power of the state to decide about some matter in relation to the citizens. Authority can be exercised both orally and in writing.
