ABSTRACT

The Oxford Dictionaries Online defines a problem as “a matter or situation regarded as unwelcome or harmful and needing to be dealt with and overcome,” and in a policing context, the most common situation considered as unwelcome that requires a police response is the commission of a crime. Various specific crime types will be explored to provide illustrations to support the assertion that all plural policing problems are actually Wicked, but that they are Tame or Critical problems when they are considered singularly.
