ABSTRACT

In this chapter we focus on the Supply Chain Management element of the Lean & Green Business System model (Figure 7.1) and will demonstrate the power of collaboration across the end-to-end process. This chapter tells the story of Marks and Spencer (M&S) and their remarkable success in implementing lean and green along the end-to-end supply chain. M&S is a leading green brand in the world of retailing that has extended their internal sustainability ambitions beyond their own organization embedding it across the whole process. You will also find a second case study belonging to MAS Intimates in Sri Lanka which is a leading manufacturer of lingerie for brands such as Victoria’s Secret and M&S.
