ABSTRACT

During this phase of the Performance Acceleration Management (PAM) approach, the organization will develop a separate vision statement for each of the Key Performance Drivers (KPDs). These vision statements will reflect the desired operational status of that KPD five years in the future. Phase II consists of eight activities:

• Activity One: Review and upgrade if necessary the organization’s mission statement, values, and vision

• Activity Two: Review the assessment report prepared during Phase I • Activity Three: Define the AS IS description for each KPD • Activity Four: Develop preliminary KPD vision statements • Activity Five: Conduct focus groups • Activity Six: Conduct and analyze an Organizational Change

Management survey • Activity Seven: Prepare final KPDs’ vision statements • Activity Eight: Communicate the final KPDs’ vision statements

Offsite Meeting of the Steering Committee

We recommend that you start this phase of the PAM project by holding a two-day, offsite meeting with all the members of the Steering Committee in attendance. We like to plan the session so that the attendees stay overnight allowing them to socialize and get to know each other better. On occasions, we have made this a three-day, offsite meeting with the third day devoted to teambuilding including a golf match. As we will point out later in this chapter, the results from the assessment will give you a good indication if additional effort needs to be expended to build understanding and cooperation between the various functions within the organization. The following is a typical agenda for the offsite meeting.
