ABSTRACT

A cost-time chart is a date-and-cost line chart that tracks a process changing cost over time. (Also referred to as a date-and-price chart, and similar to a Gantt chart.)

Its Uses

These diagrams are used to display broad process trends and predict future costs. Retail and wholesale businesses that replenish stock continually use this sort of graph to monitor their own expenses. These graphs also are used to track the price of the business product and to record and predict revenue. As with all charts that track data over time, the independent variable must go on the chart’s x-axis. Cost, the dependent variable, goes on the chart’s y-axis.
