ABSTRACT

After learning of the possibility of measuring objective pain in patients, a study was set to determine if there might be relationships between the objective pain measured and the results of acupuncture applications. The specific relationships investigated included the percentage of patients who gained relief from acupuncture treatments, how many treatments were required to achieve noticeable relief, the probability of the same pain relapsing, and if so, the probable time lapse before its recurrence. The results of the study were tabulated in Table 13.1. The data presented in the table were collected from 436 patients.
