ABSTRACT
Before disasters even occur, we need to safeguard environmental resources through thoughtful use and stewardship . Afterward, we must integrate environmental recovery into every component of our planning from houses to businesses or from parks to water treatment plants . Failure to ensure that we protect our environment may undermine further the environment’s integrity as well as its ability to protect people, habitats, and wildlife . As part of a holistic disaster recovery effort, actions have to be taken to preserve and protect environmental resources to future generations .
