ABSTRACT

Similarly in Chapter 7 the Economics Student's current conflict over jealousy was shown to have probably originated in the past in her feelings about her parents, and this was used in a therapeutic intervention; and in Chapter 8 the main theme of the Indian Scientist's therapy was that his current conflict over competition originated in his rivalry with his father. It is clear that making the links from current to past, or from non-family to family of origin, especially parents, may constitute an important part of psychotherapy.
