ABSTRACT
While the previous chapter opened with a story, the present chapter opens with nine stories. Two are from Aesop's Fables (taken from the Penguin edition, Handford, 1954). With one exception the rest are true stories taken from modern everyday life, and although most were told in the consulting room, all happened outside it. The exception is also a true story, but is taken from mediaeval history.
