Mega events carry signicant reputational consequences for decision makers. is is illustrated by the fallout of Hurricane Katrina and the widespread criticism of the Bush administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Parker & Paglia, 2012). e management of such events oen requires international cooperation and skillful domestic coordination in order to mitigate the potential tensions between organizations

at dierent levels of operation. e leadership challenges of mega events are very signicant as indicated by Weston (2011) in his examination of interagency coordination for national emergencies.
