ABSTRACT

The Department of Defense defines antiterrorism as the “defensive measures taken to reduce vulnerability to terrorist acts.”2 Antiterrorism also includes defensive and preventive measures taken to reduce vulnerability to terrorist attack. Such defensive and preventive measures may include installing physical security systems, providing and analyzing foreign and domestic intelligence, distributing information about threats, and training for response to potential future incidents. Limited response to a potential attack, such as an augmentation of security forces, is also an antiterrorism measure. Making the community and the public aware of potential terrorist threats is another key antiterrorism tool.
