In Kerala, Limnanthemum cristatum Griseb. (Gentianaceae) is used in certain parts as Tagara.3 In Tamil Nadu, Nymphoides macrospermum Vasudevan (Menanthaceae) is sold in the market as Tagara.6 However, V. wallichii DC. is preferred.3
