ABSTRACT
The internal differentiation of prisons by the Ministry of Justice Decree 368/2008 on regulations of imprisonment sentence, places prisoners of the same security level into similar sections and groups to increase the effectiveness of the treatment of prisoners. Prisoners placed in sections or groups stay together and usually also work together to assist in meeting targets for treatment (93/2008 Coll. of Law amending and supplementing Law No. 475/2005 Coll. of Law on serving of prison sentence and on amendments to certain laws). The purpose of prison is defined as being to maintain the health and dignity of prisoners for the duration of their sentence, and to develop their sense of responsibility and equip them with skills that will help them to reintegrate into society, to live and to respect the law after leaving prison (Council of Europe, 2006).
