The medical examiner or coroner takes charge of the body, any clothing on the body, and any article on or near the body that may assist the pathologist in determining the cause and manner of death.
If the medical examiner or coroner does not respond, the homi cide detective who conducted the preliminary police investigation and was present at the crime scene should attend the autopsy and provide the medical examiner or coroner with the following information.
