ABSTRACT

Technology and the Internet provide cybercriminals with access to individuals, organizations, and companies around the world. The reach of cybercrime challenges conventional notions of jurisdiction, making the targeting of cybercriminals particularly challenging for authorities. This chapter seeks to enter into the complex world of cybercrime by exploring its evolution and critically evaluating the cybersecurity measures needed to combat it. To do so, it first examines cybercrime. It then explores existing cybersecurity efforts and those required to effectively counter this threat. Finally, recommendations are provided on ways to deal with cybercrime more effectively.
