ABSTRACT

At the outset, therefore, clarity needs to be achieved concerning the goals to be reached and questions need to be answered concerning what contributions the method must and can deliver at which point. In general, this requirement applies to all optimization efforts since the target for all optimization programs should be continuous improvement, not merely continuous change. The necessary clarity can be provided by a decision matrix, by means of which the relevant objectives and boundary figures can be given weighting factors to put them in an overall perspective.
