ABSTRACT

I always wanted to be a nurse and throughout my training I always knew I wanted to work with cancer. Obviously, here we do more than just cancer, but I always wanted to look after the dying.

I have always been drawn to bereavement. All the time at college, I kept saying I wanted to work with bereavement and everybody kept asking why. I said ‘well, life is a bereavement’. Life is a series of losses, really – marriages break up, opportunities are lost – it is not just death. It is just an area I have been drawn to. I don’t know why.
