ABSTRACT
Light is one of the forensic scientist’s most potent tools. Regardless of the substrate, matrix, or circumstance, all evidentiary items and surfaces must be visually examined before any chemical or physical process is initiated. Visual examination is a nondestructive
process. It allows visible fingerprints to be documented before fingerprint powder or chemicals are applied.
