ABSTRACT

More and more organizations are using value stream mapping to redesign key business processes and even entire enterprises. However, we’ve found that they have not changed the manner by which those processes or organizations are managed, which means that the benefits will be fewer than expected, and even short lived. The need to reconsider traditional management approaches was prompted during discussions of the sixth future state question, “How will the new process be managed?” introduced in Chapter 7. In this chapter, we cover this important topic in depth.
