ABSTRACT

Discussion relating to the sustainable development of urban areas as well as mobility of goods has led to more attention to coordinate both traffic and logistics problems. There is an urgent need for more efficient and effective freight transport systems in terms of logistics costs, with full consideration of environmental issues including noise, air pollution, vibration, and visual intrusion. To address these challenges, the concept of city logistics was developed for establishing more efficient and environmentally friendly urban logistics systems. City logistics has been defined as “the process for totally optimizing the logistics and transport activities by private companies with the support of advanced information systems in urban areas considering the traffic environment,
