ABSTRACT

Officer Russ Campbell’s Story There had to have been a dozen of us in the restaurant. Nearly our entire street crimes team was there for dinner, occupying the biggest table in the place. It was a small mom-and-pop restaurant, serving the best country cooking in the area-salty ham, two sides, butter biscuits, blackberry cobbler, and sweet tea. But times were tough, and the restaurant was barely making ends meet. We were the only customers there at the time. The elderly couple who owned the restaurant had no employees. He was the only cook, and she was the only waitress.
