ABSTRACT

The term autopsy means to see with one’s own eyes. A pathologist is the medical professional who carries out an autopsy with assistance from other personnel. A forensic pathologist specializes in autopsies in which the cause and manner of death is questionable. The pathologist carries out two through examinations: examining the outside of the body or the external exam and examining the inside of the body or the internal exam. Figure 16.1 shows the autopsy of a pickle.
