ABSTRACT

Body armor might not be the first thing that comes to your mind when considering antikidnap protection. Kidnappers are, after all, out to capture you and demand a ransom from your family, loved ones, or government; they have no interest in anything else other than the money. You are, therefore, worth more to them alive than dead, and shooting you is definitely not on their agenda. However, any attempt at avoiding kidnap and/or trying to escape could result in the kidnapper opening fire to wound you and stop you from escaping. A bullet-resistant vest (BRV) is, therefore, a sensible and probably essential item of personal protection when in a kidnap hotspot.
