ABSTRACT

Winston Churchill once said, “We shape our tools and then they shape us.” Nowhere is this truer than in conventionally managed organizations where “walled kingdoms” limit our ability to deploy innovative strategic changes and resulting financial performance. It is time to dismantle the disconnected vertiginous towers we have come to accept and to realize that sustained performance improvement only can be achieved by thinking horizontally while living in a vertical world. Like the Chennai Paradox, it can be overwhelming, but the imperative is to learn how to install the requisite business model.
