ABSTRACT

However, among nations and societies, there are differences that influence communications: morals, values, and ethics. Morals are the basic notions of right and wrong that permeate a society. A moral is defined as “relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior” and “capable of right or wrong action” (Merriam-Webster, 2013d). Morals represent the foundational beliefs of society, concerning the conceptualization of right versus wrong, that influence human behaviors through time. Values are “enduring beliefs” that are derived from “some early form of indoctrination and experience” that may be “learned from parents, the community, school, peers, professional organizations, and personal selfdevelopment” (Ledlow & Coppola, 2011). Morals and values are complementary, and affect the basic worldviews and beliefs of humans.
