ABSTRACT
A wide variety of processes, including those making automotive and house paints, food products, extruded polymers, paper and plastic sheet goods, industrial chemicals, engine oil additives, waxes and pastes, and laminated circuit board materials, have improved their operation using the VSM format. Here are a few examples to demonstrate the breadth of usage, and to illustrate some of the concepts covered throughout this book. They include situations where the benefits were the traditional ones, illustrating the primary wastes and flow problems in the manufacturing system, as well as applications where the benefits were unique to the particular situation in that operation.
