As the quote states, a big risk is that we lose sight of the big picture. Planning, scheduling, materials management, teamwork, reliabilitycentered maintenance (RCM), root cause analysis (RCA) and so on are all tools. Uptime is a framework for one (albeit significant) phase in the entire life cycle of physical assets. Asset management (AM) looks at the big picture and creates the framework within which Uptime’s first chapter on strategy can easily fit.
