ABSTRACT

Sooner or later, virtually everything we make or buy ends up either consumed or in the garbage. Garbage tells the story of our material lives and behaviors, often in a candid and unflattering light. As a by-product of our behavior, the material in our garbage is a reflection of our personal behaviors and choices. Among the stories told by garbage, the volume and type of material present in it is an indicator of the health and efficiency of the organization producing it.
