ABSTRACT

This type of thinking is a radical departure from the historical worker thinking of “I’m here to do what I’m told and I use my brain outside of work in family affairs and community activities, but not at work.” Lean thinking challenges everyone to be the manager of their own actions, by challenging “This is how we do things here” and the ever-popular “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” After all, all processes can be improved by using new technology and eliminating unnecessary steps that may have been needed in the past. The world does change, and the spoils go to the company that adapts rapidly and takes advantage of the new conditions.
