ABSTRACT

Digital evidence can be dened as any information that has been stored or transmitted digitally (USLegal, 2001-2014). Digital evidence can be considered latent, or hidden, like DNA and ngerprints. It can quickly cross jurisdiction lines and be easily damaged and altered (National Forensic Science Technology Center, 2014). Examples of digital evidence can include, but are not limited to, e-mails, documents, spreadsheets, text messages, pictures, and videos. ese digital evidence items can be stored on any type of digital media. Some examples of dierent types of digital media are computer hard drives, some printers, thumb drives, gaming systems, cellular phones, MP3 players, tablets, and some of the newer appliances that have built-in televisions.
