ABSTRACT

Key to understanding the true costs of offshoring is recognizing the impact of these decisions on the offshoring companies themselves, our country, and our culture. From a somewhat myopic point of view, a company might decide its profit picture is better if it imports product. The best companies realize that their internal decisions have a widely dispersing impact even outside their corporate walls. We encourage offshoring companies to review their existing policy decisions and reconsider the overall value of importing product. We Americans all live in our culture, and we suffer as the culture suffers. What good is it if my company does well financially but harms the very culture from which my long-term customers come?
